As readers of digital books, we know you're probably aware of the new royalty structure that our biggest distributor, Amazon.com, is offering to independent writers and small publishers.  The short story is an impressive double of our current royalties.  The bigger story is that in order to get this munificence we must re-price our books between $2.99 and $9.99.  This seems unfair to the readers, in our opinion.  Without the loyalty of our readers, this pot would be empty.

So, let me state the policy here at Inknbeans:  Loyalties over royalties.

InknBeans Press is all about the ultimate reading experience.  We believe books are the greatest treasures of mankind.  In them are held all the history, fantasy, hope and horror of humanity.  We can experience the past, dream of the future, understand how everything works from an atomic clock to the human heart.  We can explore our souls, fight epic battles, swoon in love.  We can fly, we can run, we can cross mighty oceans and endless universes.  We can invite ancient cultures into our living room, and walk on the moon.  And if we can do it with a decent cup of coffee beside us...well, what more can we ask, right?  

Right now we have a handful of contemporary relationship fiction works.  We don't like the genre Romance, as it suggests those bodice rippers of the sixties and seventies with helpless females and insensitive males.  The characters in these books are whole people, with real feelings, real ambitions, real strengths and weaknesses and real mistakes. 

We also have a very gritty crime thriller, based on actual events, and written by a former police investigator and instructor.  If you like books where you can feel the dirt and smell the sweat and the fear, this is the one for you.  Openers, by Michael E. Benson is available now.
