Andy Boerger

I'm an illustrator/writer/educator from Columbus, Ohio. I have lived in Tokyo for the past twenty odd years. I've worn many hats throughout that time; though everything I've done ties into my passion for communicating, and creating. Combining words with images is a particular passion of mine. And children and animals are two of my favorite subjects for drawing, especially when the two interact in revealing ways. So this book sort of represents the tying together of many strings. I guess it's as autobiographical a book as can be, considering the subject is a very small girl and her very unique ferret!
For the Sherlock Ferret adventures illustrated by Andy and written by Hugh Ashton, visit Crime Fighting Ferret.
He has also illustrated two delightful books for author Denise Barry: What Does the Tooth Fairy Do With Our Teeth and Soap on a Rope.

I Like You More Each Day
Friend of ferrets, liberator of lions, singer of new songs and lover of little pachyderms, Meg has her own perspective of the world from the vagaries of time to the delights of wondering where a butterfly goes. She and her ferret take on to-do lists, two wheelers and the true definition of being special in verse and line drawings that are both simple and profound.

Letting Go
A little pilot.
A big problem.
A story for anyone who has ever lost, and then found, his wings.

The Angel Corps
“This is a self-help book about helping others”
The Angel Corps shows how simple acts of service to others can map out our path to true happiness.
Boerger’s personal experiences, which range from picking up worms from broiling concrete paths, to the rescue of a woman from a horrific wildfire – and the lessons he draws from them – help provide answers to the most important quests that we all face:
How can we make the world better?
What can really make us happy?
How shall we live as human beings upon this earth in relation to each other and all of life?
What are people saying about The Angel Corps?
“[Boerger] …looks at the future of civilization, recognizes constant setbacks, and calls for people to enlist in “The Angel Corps.” Andy envisions a world where everyone puts others first thereby helping to get our society back on track, or ‘perhaps even allowing it to survive at all’” Philip C. Eyster, author of Soaring Higher.
“I love the message: If everyone were to say ‘I’m in [the Angel Corps' this world would be a much better place.” Robin Bee Owens, author of The Wand.

A Grownup's Garden of Verse
It’s time to relax; to step back and see
The wonderful 'garden' where you used to be,
Children love verse, and lucky ones grow up with it. An early exposure to meter and rhyme can lead to a lifelong love of language, and all its rich potentials. Yet, barely out of infancy, we are urged to grow up, and leave aside childish things. Plant our nose to the grindstone and our shoulder to the wheel. But somewhere, deep inside us, remains the wonder and joy of childhood. There, verse retains its power to enchant and delight us.
In the spirit of Robert Louis Stevenson's 'Children’s Garden of Verses', writer and illustrator Andy Boerger welcomes you into this magical collection of 43 poems, rhymes, and songs that reveal the virtues, foibles and fantasies of humankind, alongside pachyderms and playboys, beauties and beetles, ferrets and forests.
Take off those wingtips and let your toes snuggle into the grass. Trade in your briefcase for a bright red balloon. Let a fuzzy caterpillar tickle your palm, and rediscover the world of joy and laughter and wonder, through verse. You work hard, Mr. or Ms. Grownup; 'tis time to let yourself play.
