The Trail of Tears is one of the most bitter events in US history, and like all inhumanity against humanity, it continued to cause harm long after it was done. They were dependent upon the provisions of the US Government, yet someone was hijacking these shipments of food, clothing and means to make shelter and replacing it with shoddy materials and spoiled food, leading to the death of hundreds more. A young Cherokee girl who managed to survive, and a wounded dog she found in the woods, formed an unexpected alliance to find out where the desperately needed supplies were going, and why so many of her people, including her little brother, were dying.
